Schools Out For Summer!
Ah, nothing like a little Alice Cooper to start this post.
School's out for summer as of today. And I must say, today has been QUITE the celebratory day.
If you're a consistent reader of my Carpool Mom posts, you may recall that my daughter desired straight A's this year, but as the 4th quarter rolled around, it seemed as if Math would put a nasty glitch in that master plan.
Thus, today, when my daughter came running from the bus-stop yelling, "Mom! You're never going to believe this!" and then pulled an award for Academic Excellence from her backpack, there was MUCH rejoicing!
"They called my name! I didn't know what to do! I was so surprised! I pulled up my grade! President Obama signed this!!!!!!!!!"
Um, what?! Ok, so she didn't reach her goal of straight A's, but final grades revealed she missed it by ONE CLASS (guess which one?). She managed to pull her Math grade UP enough from the depths of "Uh-oh!" to get a "B". The only "B" she received in her final grades.
She did it.
And then, I handed her a puppy.
No, really. I did.
Once again, if you're up to speed, we lost our dear, sweet Scout just over a month ago.
Today, our home is no longer dog-less, as we welcomed two pups into our family: Sookie (named after Sookie in The Gilmore Girls) and Neville (for Nevilled Longbottom in Harry Potter). I know. I'm crazy, right?
But really, when else is there a BETTER time to train two puppies? During the school year? Are you kidding me? Think again.
This summer will be full of puppy-love and continual math tutoring, along with some small trips, the pool, summer homework (yup) and laziness.
We're ready! Are you?
