If I've learned anything in life it's that it's important to find out what we like, what we love, what we can tolerate, what we hate, what we are good at, and what we are passionate about.
This applies not only to finding a life partner, but also to making a career choice, and even in getting a smoothly running house. I've really learned in the last few years what I like and dislike about housework and how my husband and I can work together to get everything accomplished.
What I've learned is that I hate the end game. My most favorite chores are the beginning of chores. I like washing and drying the laundry. I hate folding and putting away. I like loading the dishwasher. I hate putting it away. I like mowing the lawn. I hate weed whacking the trim. I like picking up and making neat piles. I hate scrubbing underneath the piles.
I'm a big picture girl.
Thankfully my dear husband is more of a detail guy. He likes closing the deal. He's ok with putting away the laundry, putting away the dishes, scrubbing the smallest details and doing the trim.
Lucky for us, we've realized how our personalities shape our home life and they happen to fit pretty well together. I never thought about asking him on our first date whether he liked to wash or fold. That's something you just have to hope that fits together once you meet your mate. I'm happy that I seemed to have lucked out.
And I don't have to fold socks. So, yay :)
