We love to go out to dinner.  I really enjoy cooking, but my husband is an out-do-dinner guy and we go out once/week.  I am so tired of the usual chain restaurants and would love to find some nice options that are locally owned, and are family friendly.

    Any suggestions?

I'm interested in this as well, so I hope people have some suggestions. We're just getting back into going out to dinner but we're still in the stage where it's a crapshoot. Some days are blissful and we actually eat our meals and other days we're chasing two wild kids around the resturant while they launch their mac-n-cheese like a slingshot.   So we'd love to find some REALLY FAMILY FRIENDLY (aka, we won't get the dirty looks from other patrons/staff when my kids have "one of those nights")

We used to do lunch a lot, when the kids were younger.  Nice places, but at lunch (on a weekend) and they didn't seem to mind.

My book group had our Christmas gathering at Legends, on the North Side.  There were families there, and the menu was totally yummy.  You should try it.

We find D'Amico's in Bloomfield to be a great place to get yummy food and they don't roll their eyes when you bring kids in.

Though I haven't been in these restaurants for quite a few years (I lived out of the area for most of the past 10 years) have you tried Peters Place on Washington Pike in Kirwan Heights/Bridgeville, Carbonara's on Mt. Lebanon Blvd in Mt. Lebanon or Wright's Seafood in Heidelberg?  I used to see families in there and don't remember there ever being a problem.  Wright's and Peter's Place are more expensive than Carbonara's.  My kids just turned 3 and 4 and we too are looking forward to being able to eat out more often.
