Hallway games

Most nights, after bathtime, we get the boys jammied up and play "hallway games".  We have a long hallway in our upstairs that the boys just love to run back and forth in.  One of us sits at each end of the hallway and the boys will run to each of us in turn and give us hugs.  The hallway games have evolved over the past year.  We started out with Ben crawlig and Matthew pretending to be a baby and crawling behind him.  Then we celebrated Ben's first steps with a wobbly walk down the hallway, Matthew pretending to wobble behind him.  Then came the running. Both boys running back and forth diving into us at the end of journey in a fit of giggles.  Last night we started a new game, the beginning of a hallway obstacle course. I sat in the middle of the hallway with my legs outstretched while the boys turn turns trying to hurdle my legs as they ran past.  The laughs were immense.

I love these hallway games.  It's my favorite time of the night. The boys in their footie jammies, with clean skin and wet hair just look so perfect, such a gift from God.  The laughs and silly songs and spirit of cooperation (there are no toys to argue over) are plentiful.  As are the hugs.

I really believe that this is what life is meant to be.  My husband, my kids and our hallway games. I treasure these moments like nothing else, as I know they will end far too soon.  I will hold them in my heart always.
